Every time someone puts on a garment made with GlenGuard, they're putting their trust in us. We make sure that trust is earned by rigorously testing our fabrics against the real hazards that GlenGuard wearers face.

Putting Protection to the Test.

GlenGuard holds every fabric we make to the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability. That means putting each one through exhaustive testing across the full range of conditions workers face, from flash fire and arc flash to chemical splash, abrasion, and repetitive washing.  No guesswork, no assumptions. Just proven results.

Flash Fire Testing

Fire moves fast. With a sudden ignition and a wave of heat and flame, workwear quickly becomes the only thing that can prevent a life-altering burn injury.

The test method for flash fire, ASTM F1930, requires a 3-second exposure to flame and uses sensors on a mannequin to determine body burn percentage. See the difference that comprehensive FR protection can make in the face of flash fire and other fire-related hazards.

Arc Flash Testing

Arc flash happens in an instant, subjecting workers to blinding light, molten metal, and temperatures four times hotter than the surface of the sun. That level of risk requires self-extinguishing PPE that won’t ignite, melt, or burn the skin.

GlenGuard has been rigorously tested to test method ASTM F1959, which determines the amount of thermal energy that a fabric can absorb after being exposed to an electric arc before a wearer experiences second degree burns. 

Chemical Resistance Testing

Inadvertent contact with corrosive, toxic, or flammable liquids can happen in seconds and leave workers exposed to burns and contamination. GlenGuard fabrics are enhanced by our proprietary EcoRepelzz™ technology, a PFAs-free finish that repels a variety of chemicals when they are unintentionally splashed on the garment surface.

Abrasion Testing

Tear Testing

When workers move and bend, garments are more likely to tear—and garments that tear are not compliant.

Brightness/UV Fade Resistance Testing

Choose a fabric that will outlast the rest. When tested using AATCC 16.3 standards and spectrophotometer readings, GlenGuard Hi-Vis fabric starts out the brightest, and—after 40 hours of UV exposure—stays the brightest compared to our top competitors.
